Quick Answer: What Is Parkinson’s Home Care?

Parkinson’s home care gives a person practical help with daily life in their own home. A caregiver or CNA may help with dressing, bathing, meals, safe movement, errands, reminders and companionship.

The goal is to support comfort and independence while giving family caregivers dependable help.

Parkinson’s Home Care Services

Our Parkinson’s home care services are based on the client’s abilities, daily routine and care needs. Support can change when movement, energy or personal-care needs change.

Help With Movement and Daily Routines

Parkinson’s can make walking and everyday movements slower or harder. A caregiver can provide approved mobility support, keep common pathways clear and give the client enough time to complete each task safely.

Personal Care at the Client’s Pace

Our caregivers help with bathing, dressing, grooming and toilet routines. They explain each step and avoid rushing the client. A CNA may be selected when more hands-on personal care is needed.

Meals and Household Help

A caregiver can prepare simple meals, offer reminders and help with dishes, laundry or light cleaning. Concerns about chewing, swallowing, nutrition or weight should be shared with the client’s healthcare provider.

Caregiver and CNA Matching

We consider care needs, movement support, personality and schedule when choosing a caregiver or CNA. Chris Breneman, CDP #252621, and Diane Robertson, CDP, help guide our personal approach to home care.

When More Parkinson’s Care May Be Needed

A person may begin having more trouble with walking, dressing, bathing, meals or getting in and out of bed. They may also need help at night, while a family caregiver may become tired from providing daily support.

Home care for Parkinson’s can begin with a few weekly hours. It may later increase to daily, respite, overnight, live-in or awake 24-hour care. Our local team can review the plan when needs change. Medical concerns should be discussed with the client’s doctor.

How We Build a Parkinson’s Home Care Plan

We Listen to the Family

Tell us what has changed, which daily tasks are difficult and what help is already available. You do not need to choose the care hours before calling.

We Learn About the Client

We ask about movement, personal care, meals, sleep, interests and daily routines. We also learn which parts of the day are easier or more difficult.

We Create a Clear Plan

The care plan lists approved tasks, visit times, routines, contacts and goals. It may include personal care, meals, companionship, household help and medication reminders.

We Choose a Thoughtful Match

We consider experience, skills, personality, communication style and schedule when selecting a caregiver or CNA. The right match should feel comfortable for the client and family.

We Stay Involved

Families can share updates with local care leaders. If the client’s needs, schedule or caregiver match changes, we can review the Parkinson’s care plan.
