Making Everyday Life Easier at Home

A visit with your parent may reveal unopened groceries, missed laundry or trouble preparing breakfast. You might live farther away, or need help sharing care duties while managing work, your own household and other daily responsibilities.

Finding support begins with understanding the day. We ask which tasks feel difficult, how your loved one likes things done and when help would be welcome. Their preferences guide a plan that leaves room for independence.

For Lake Barrington households, including those in Lake Barrington Shores, planning can include entrance instructions, parking and stairs. We discuss these details alongside daily tasks before arranging the first visit.

Home Care Services for Your Daily Needs

Personal Care

Help with washing, dressing, grooming, toileting and approved movement tasks, offered with patience and respect. The caregiver follows the plan while allowing time for each client's choices and abilities.

Hourly, Overnight, 24-Hour and Live-In Care

Care may be needed for a few hours, during the night or across the day. We explain available schedules and staffing. Live-in arrangements include caregiver rest periods; 24-hour care uses different coverage. Options depend on assessed needs and availability.

Keeping Families Informed Between Visits

When relatives cannot visit every day, knowing how a loved one is managing can bring reassurance. During agreed care visits, caregivers notice small changes in routine and share useful observations, helping families understand when the level of support may need review. Updates follow the communication arrangements agreed with the client and family. Concerns can then be discussed with their usual healthcare provider when appropriate.

Eating and drinking

We notice unfinished meals, changing appetite or new difficulties with preparing and enjoying food at home.

Comfort and movement:

We observe whether getting dressed, walking or other daily tasks seem harder to manage alone.

Interest and routine

We notice changes in conversation, enjoyment of activities and everyday habits.

Familiar Routines When Memory Changes

Repeated questions, forgotten routines or difficulty choosing clothes can make some mornings challenging. Our dementia care provides non-medical assistance with personal tasks, companionship and gentle guidance in familiar surroundings.

We ask about comforting habits, favorite activities and the words your loved one responds to. Understanding these preferences helps us plan visits and consider a suitable caregiver.

Chris Breneman and Diane Robertson hold Certified Dementia Practitioner credentials. Their knowledge informs planning and matching while keeping the person’s preferences central to support.
